Our Tiny Treasures Room at Ash House Day Nursery (children aged 6 weeks to 3 years)

Our self-contained Tiny treasures room is located on the ground floor and is spread across 3 rooms which offer plenty of space for the children to explore and engage in purposeful play experiences. We aim to provide a "Home from Home" environment in which the individual needs and routines of every child are followed to help with a smooth transition into the nursery setting.

Debbie, our team leader along with her team of experinced practitioners aim to make your baby's/toddlers day enjoyable, safe and stimulating to encourage their natural curiosity and creativity and to form secure bonds with their peers. They follow the child's lead to enhance learning and development using a combination of The Curiosity Approach, The Early Years Foundation Stage 2021 (EYFS) and Birth to Five Develpoment Matters Curriculum guidance. A typical day would include a selection of sensory activities, musical play, messy play, physical play, arts, crafts and free play using natural resources as much as possible both indoor and outdoor. All activities encourage critical thinking and offer challenges which promote growth and development. We also take advantage of our local community and environment, taking the children out on trips to visit the shops, parks and local beaches on a regular basis. We also have our mini buses which can be used to take the children on trips further a field.

During your child's time in the Tiny Treasures room the parents/carers will be given an Early Years Diary. The Early Years Diary will be used to communicate key information between home and nursery, we see this as a very important tool in our busy day to communicate important information about each child. This is a two way partnership between home and nursery and we welcome parents comments and ideas as well as daily requirments.

When time comes for your child to move on from the Tiny Treasures room, we hope each child will have gained the confidence and self-awarness to be critical thinkers, to be able to follow their own interest and able to make choices. To be able form secure bonds with peers and adults, to understand simple boundaries and rules of the day, to be good communicators and able to use thier vocies to share ideas but also be able to sit and listen to others. Be resilient, kind and respectful, showing empathy towards others. Our aim is that the experiences we offer in the Tiny Treasures room will support the children to achieve these goals and will prepared the children for the next stage of their learning an development in the Pre-school room and beyond.
